Allotment
Echo have been
lucky to have taken on a new allotment plot this spring and the volunteers
have all been working flat out over the summer months converting it into
a miniature eden. Starting with a bare patch of ground we have successfully
ended up with a very well stocked allotment and produced several crops in
a single season. A poly tunnel has recently been erected in favor of the
greenhouse so we can prepare plants ready for next years growing season
and planting now needs to take place urgently before the winter weather
arrives.
Following on from the excellent crop of corn, fennel, marrow and french beans that we have had this year and just in time for Halloween our brightly orange pumpkins have starting to swell to a gigantic size
In an attempt to get the most from our allotment produce, we have been baking homemade pies and pastries using some of the berries and apples that were in bountiful supply this autumn. Some of these treats can be sampled at the Share centres community cafe on Tuesday's.
