ECHO FRIENDSHIP CLUB
The
first group of Senior Citizens chosen for Stow Hill, Baneswell, Clytha
Park and Lower Dock Street was established following a day trip organized
by ECHO STOW HILL
ECHO FRIENDSHIP CLUB is open
to all over 50 years of age who reside in the areas mentioned above.
How we all love to talk! Our Seniors say that the best part of our meetings
is being able to chat to each other about any topic they want to. Seniors
are enthusiastic about trying something different and enjoyed the ceramics
sessions so much that they asked for other new activities to try so some
of us are starting classes on Drawing and Painting at the SHARE Center
soon. You're never too old to learn and have fun while you're doing it.
We have such a variety of activities planned, such as 'Beautiful Babes
of Ages Ago', talks about Newport History and garden birds, quizzes, Beetle
Drives and even a little easy session of Line Dancing! Intrigued? Then,
if you're over 50, come along and have a bit of fun with us. ECHO Friendship
Club has been invited to do an item or two for the Youth Summer Cabaret
and some of our Seniors have planned a comedy mime 'The Wellie Boot Ballet'.
We're not telling you what that is about – you'll have to come and see
it for yourselves but we think we have more fun rehearsing it than actually
performing it! Yes, we do like a laugh!

The Group meets every fortnight on Fridays at the Salvation Army Hall in Hill Street, from 10.30 am to 12.30 pm, for coffee, talks, discussions and the planning of future events and excursions.
